Results of the August test are due in October

UHR says the results of the citizenship test held on 15 August will be published in October 2026 and that the pass mark is set afterwards.

On 26 August 2026 UHR updated its page of questions and answers about the citizenship test. It now states that the results of the test held on 15 August will be published in October. No date in October is given. The pass mark is set afterwards.

What does UHR say?

The page answers three questions that many people ask.

What is needed to pass? The pass mark is set afterwards. In other words, UHR first adds up how participants answered and then decides how many correct answers are needed. Until then there is no pass mark. Sites that state a number of correct answers are guessing.

When are the results coming? In October 2026. The results are published, and UHR passes the information to the Migration Agency (Migrationsverket).

When is the next test? The date will be announced on uhr.se during the autumn. You must make a new registration.

UHR also says that anyone who fails may be given the opportunity to show their knowledge again, and that you should then contact the Migration Agency. SVT reported after the test that in future a retake will not be possible. The statements differ. The primary source is UHR, but ask the Migration Agency what applies to you.

What does it mean for the Migration Agency?

On 18 August 2026 the Migration Agency wrote that the statistics on citizenship should be interpreted with caution. While waiting for the test results, they are mainly deciding cases that will be rejected, because most people waiting for a decision need a pass in the test.

That is visible in the figures. According to the Migration Agency’s monthly statistics, 84 citizenships were granted in July 2026 and 199 in August. In May, before the new rules entered into force, the figure was 3,953.

When the results arrive in October, the Migration Agency can start deciding cases where the applicant has passed the test and meets the other requirements.

Who does it apply to?

You who took the test on 15 August: you will get your result in October. Keep an eye on your UHR account and on uhr.se.

You who are waiting for a decision from the Migration Agency and have not yet taken the test: your case will not be decided until you have shown the knowledge. The Migration Agency will contact you if you need to supplement your case.

You who are going to take the next test: the pass mark and the results from August give a first picture of how difficult the test is. But the format of the next test has not been published, so do not draw conclusions about the number of questions.

What should you do?

Wait for October without guessing. Use the time to read Sverige i fokus and practise Swedish words from the material.
