Facts about the word

  • The main rule is that you must have had habitual residence in Sweden for eight years (section 11 of the Swedish Citizenship Act). Lag (2001:82) 11 §
  • Trips abroad longer than six weeks a year are deducted from the residence period. Migrationsverket
  • If you cannot prove your identity, at least ten years of residence is required under section 11 c. SFS 2026:447
