Violence, threats or strict control by the family or relatives against someone who breaks the family's rules.

Facts about the word

  • Honour-related violence means a family or group trying to control how people in the family behave, through physical violence, psychological pressure or social threats. Sverige i fokus s. 23
  • It is directed not only at women and girls; boys, men and LGBTQI people can also be affected. Being forced to marry against your will is one example. Sverige i fokus s. 23–24
