  • Antisemitism was long widespread across Europe. Only in 1870 did Jews gain full civil rights in Sweden. Sverige i fokus s. 43
  • In the 1930s the Riksdag passed laws that made it harder for Jews and Roma to immigrate, and Sweden admitted very few Jews in the first years of the war. Sverige i fokus s. 35
  • Towards the end of the Second World War Sweden helped Jews: around 7,000 Danish Jews fled here, Raoul Wallenberg issued protective passports and the Red Cross white buses rescued thousands from the camps. Sverige i fokus s. 35
